Well, in theory, the professor has a point. Research methodology is concerned with a much broader and deeper range of matters than research methods alone. It is concerned with philosophical, theoretical, disciplinary and values-based considerations about the nature of knowledge and discovery and how research should be conducted, reported and evaluated. Research methods are the practices and procedures you use to conduct research: interviews, surveys, statistical analyses, classification, analysis, synthesis and so on.
